A Resource for Journalists

Welcome to the latest and greatest iteration of the Whitefish
Newsroom in Whitefish, Montana -- an online resource for journalists. As the snow piles up, we're looking forward to helping you tell stories of winter adventures in our area and we hope that this web site will serve as a valuable resource for your work. It will be constantly updated with the latest happenings and we'lll push updates out to you from time to time.
This past weekend, a group called the Heart of Whitefish threw a block party downtown to celebrate the opening of Third Street, one of the cross streets downtown that had been under construction as part of a revitalization project to replace needed infrastructure and add some street-scaping in the process -- widen the sidewalks, added benches, raised crosswalks, landscaping, and other pedestrian amenities.
It was a great community turnout to celebrate the continued momentum and growth of this historic railroad town. There was a kids bike rodeo, live music, green chili, hot cider, warm cookies, many prizes and the official ceremony with Mayor Jenson cutting the symbolic ribbon.
At the block party, this exchange was overheard:
Kid: "Dad, what's the party for?"
Dad: It's a party because they opened the street back up."
Kid: "A party for a street?"
Dad: "That's Whitefish! Any excuse for a party!"
And it's true. We don't need much of an excuse to have a good time around here!
More, we hope you will visit us this winter to test out the slopes and see the wonders of the Whitefish and Glacier National Park areas. Email us if you are interested in the trip and have an outlet for a story on taking the train to Whitefish for Winter Carnival, February 4-7. The historic Empire Builder makes daily stops here from points east (Chicago to Whitefish) and west (Seattle
